Monitoring Systems...
...how to optimize acoustically and electronically
Room Acoustics and modern Correction Filter Systems – the optimum solution for a well sounding recording studio.
On Tuesday, 07th September 2010 INNOTON, STUDIO MAGAZIN and the TORUS GmbH are inviting for a practical application Studio Acoustics Workshop. There will be a mixture of lectures and lessons along with practical hands on training. The participants will learn about the potential acoustical problems and their effects and how to avoid or to at least minimize their effects by making best use of room acoustics and also electronic filtering.
Interference everywhere...
Starting during the development of a studio monitor system, a multitude of mechanical, acoustical and electronical requirements have to be taken into consideration. This continues while integrating the studio monitor system into the control room environment. How important the individual elements and functional specifications of the Studio Monitor System along with the room acoustics are, is described by editor and studio acoustician Fritz Fey. He will also point out where the limitations are to be found, no matter what precautions and measures are taken. Fritz Fey has a background of experience from the last 25 years in planning and constructing recording studios recording rooms and control rooms.
...linear, but not only at the sweetspot
What can be done, when room acoustics are optimized to the physical potential of the room? How can digital technology and modern FIR filter equipment benefit the monitor system? Latvian based REAL SOUND LAB has developed a new and very different approach to enforce the precision of the monitor system in the control room. The inherent problems are minimized through a very practical measurement and correction method.
Alex Schloesser, Director of Pro Audio at Real Sound Lab will demonstrate the theory and practical approach behind the patented CONEQ measurement tool in the TORUS Cinema Mixing Control room. The main control room within the TORUS complex uses a 5.1 Monitor System in ITU setup.
The TORUS GmbH is allowing their main control room to be used for this workshop: the 90sqm large “MIX 1” alone is worth the visit of the workshop and seminary. In the breaks, snacks and coffee to be served to the Workshop participants. Applications are free to everyone.
